Are crochet bags actually practical?
An honest answer: yes, within reason. A well made crochet bag is strong, because the fabric is worked tightly and the handles are reinforced where they join. They carry a phone, a purse, keys and the usual daily things without complaint.
What they are not is a laptop bag. Crochet fabric has some give, so very heavy or sharp-cornered loads will stretch a bag over time. If you want one for daily heavy use, tell me and I will work it tighter and reinforce the base and straps.
Lined or unlined
Crochet fabric has small gaps by nature. For most bags that is part of the look. If you would rather small items did not peek through, ask for a lining when you order and I will fit one.
Keeping it looking good
- Store it stuffed with tissue or a scarf so it holds its shape rather than folding flat.
- Spot clean marks with a damp cloth and mild soap.
- If it needs a full wash, hand wash cool, press the water out without wringing, reshape and dry flat. The care guide has the full method.
- Keep it out of long direct sun so the colour stays true.
